The Tournament chess is our medium Tournament set and includes the weighted Staunton No 6 chess pieces made of hornbeam wood. The white squares are printed on the chess board. The folding chess board has been inlaid with mahogany and sycamore wood.
The board is decorated with using the technique – INTARSIA. Thanks to this technique, chess pieces have a unique appearance – the surface of the board is smooth and uniform.
The squares on the board are light brown and beige. The pawns are beige and dark brown.
The folding chess board has an insert tray for the chess pieces storage inside. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play.
The pieces are beautifully crafted from solid wood and finished into the easily recognizable Staunton design and enjoy their own individual compartments when not in play – negating the need for a separate storage box. Each base is felted to protect the board and weighted for perfect balance.
This lovely set will provide years of use, offers great value for money and would make an ideal gift.

Carl –
Wow this is a really nice set perfect size and good workmanship it’s not made in China thank goodness but in Poland. All the pieces are very nicely done and have good weight to them. The knights are not very elaborate but at this price point I wasn’t expecting it to be the fancier the knights the more expensive the set, of coarse the kind of wood factors into that also but this company seems to be green because they use plantation wood for this set. All in all I am very happy with this set and at sub 100 bucks you get a set that seems like it will bring years of chess to me and the kids.

I could not believe the qualitiy of the set when I opened it. The intricate detail on each piece, along with the pleasant wood smell when I opened the box confirmed that this set is indeed hand-crafted.
I am an amateur player who has been playing since I was a kid, and this is the finest set I have owned. Ignore the tournament players who may not pick this $70 set. For the price, I would describe this set as almost too good to be true.

A very good choice for beginners. The only down side is there are no extra Queens. The board is nicely made, as are the pieces. The weight of the pieces is good, the height is what I like in playing size, and I thoroughly enjoy playing with it, as does my grandson.

I recently started playing chess more often and decided to indulge in a nice set. The wooden board’s rather wonderful. The pieces slide frictionlessly, feel nice in your hand, and make a pleasing sound when they hit each other gently during captures or thump down on the board.
I was kind of hesitant after the price tag — it’s suspect when people who aren’t good at some activity own really nice equipment for it — but I figured it was €50, not €500, and whatever price difference between that and a more modest set would motivate me to get better at chess to retroactively justify the purchase. So far it seems to be working. But maybe I’m just stupid.
