The Beskid chess set pieces reflect a style of Polish highlanders from the Beskid region. These lovely slim chess pieces are made from hornbeam wood and are glued on the bottom with a green felt. The burned folding chess board has two compartments finished with green felt lining for the chess pieces storage inside.
This chess set has a big size and a unique design. The folding chessboard is made of wood mainly of beech and therefore minor colour differences may occur on the chessboard, on the side of the board there are two metal locks in gold colour.
The simplest and most widely used form of chess notation is the algebraic notation. The edges of the chessboard is marked with letters and numbers.
Chess notation is an easy way to record your games so that you can play them back to study tactics, understand mistakes or impress your friends. Give the notation a try in your next game – you will see that there is nothing more pleasant than the eye-catching exclamation mark behind the move that wins the game.
Much research has already been done into the benefits of chess for (the brain of) children. This showed, among other things, that children playing chess perform better at school when it comes to skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, math skills, spatial awareness and concentration.

The wooden box that is both the board and the storage case for the pieces is nicely finished both inside and out. Inside is a soft lining with individual elastic straps to hold each piece in place.

I didn’t wan’t to spend too much on the set since I wasn’t sure if my son could relate to something that was not connected to the internet. When the set arrived, I was a bit surprise how great it looked for the price. My son’s eyes immediately lit up when he saw the set. Since the set arrived, my son has been completely consumed and fascinated by the game. Thanks for this set!

Mein Mann und ich hatten beide in unserer Jugend gespielt, aber wir waren uns nicht sicher, ob wir regelmäßig spielen wollen. Deshalb wollte ich nicht zu viel Geld in einem Schachspiel stecken. Dies war eine perfekte Passform für uns – preiswert, lagerfähig und voll spielbar.

We love this set, I got this chess set for my 6 year old birthday and we play all the time. The board is still able to close and store the pieces. That’s actually the best part of this that the board when folded in half serves as storage for the chess pieces. Pretty good quality for the price.

I have purchased this set for several reasons. I like wood, not plastic. My 10 year old grandson is just learning the game and I wanted to get him a nice useable set that didn’t look like a toy. He’s taken a real interest in learning how to play, but is not very good about storing his things. I love that the box holds all the pieces so they will hopefully stay together. I think he will like it a lot.

My son had shown an interest in chess after watching a movie and I thought i would surprise him with a set to learn on. Well when you are trying to purchase an inexpensive set you have two options, plastic and cheap or a travel set. Then I stumbled upon this set and boy was I surprised at how well this board is made. I’m glad I went with this one over a cheap plastic set.
