SPANISH COURT CHESS SET

The Spanish Court chess pieces are fully hand-crafted. They have been polished, slightly weighted and made from lime wood. The burned folding chess board has two compartments for the chess pieces storage inside which are finished with felt lining.

With its bold lines and noble looks of the chessmen, the name of this chess set couldn’t be better as it resembles life at the Spanish Court. The Kings, Queens and Bishops all were the then-modern ruffs. Tiny soldiers (the pawns) with a shield in their hands protect the royal ranks from your opponent’s attack.

Board is hand-decorated with a technique called INTARSJA – that is an old form of wood inlaying, start of that technique dates before the seventh century.
Thanks to this method, chess has a unique appearance and smooth board surface.

The folding chessboard is made of mahogany and sycamore wood mainly of beech wood, on the side of the board there are two metal locks in gold colour. 

Other than its name, the set is of kingly dimensions too: at a height of 15 cm, the king with its opulent figure is anything but small and is a force to be reckoned with. Lime wood has been used to carve these wonderful chess pieces, which are all slightly weighted. A huge board of 60 x 60 cm can accommodate all the pieces in its two compartments which are lined with red felt. In total, the entire set brings 3.7 kg on the scale. Needless to say that this wonderfully crafted chess set is handmade.
