The “Playmobil” chess set is a beautiful and timeless piece of our themed chess sets collection. Unique hand-crafted, slightly weighted chess pieces which feel very nice are made from three types of wood: oak, sycamore and cherry tree. The alphanumeric notation has been put on light borders of the chess board which will be a big help for kids who want to study the game. The folding chess board has an insert tray which fit the chess pieces very well. This chess set, as you can imagine is a very decorative set for display.
Board is hand-decorated with a technique called INTARSJA – that is an old form of wood inlaying, start of that technique dates before the seventh century.
Thanks to this method, chess has a unique appearance and smooth board surface.
The folding chessboard is made of mahogany and sycamore wood mainly of beech wood, on the side of the board there are two metal locks in gold colour. In the middle of the half-folded board there is a liner covered with a green velour coating to store the chess pieces.

Habe dies für meinen Freund zu Weihnachten gekauft auf dem Wiehnachtsmarkt. Ich schätze all die kleinen Details, die dazu beigetragen haben. Es könnte eine persönliche Sache sein, aber ich mag es, dass ich immer noch den Lack darauf riechen kann. Die Schachfiguren sind schön und solide und das Brett liegt flach, wenn es geöffnet ist. Einfach toll!

Mein Sohn war mit dem handgeschnitzten Aussehen sehr zufrieden! Die Schachfiguren sind gefilzt und liegen gut in der Hand. Jeder würde dieses schöne Set schätzen. Sind SUPER aus!

Algebraic grid will be a big help for kids who really want to study the game. It is also very decorative. Set is too big for a travel set and you will want to protect board from dings and gouges. Workmanship is very good. Very pleased!

Excellent hand made chess set. Good sized pieces and board. Could leave board out on display or the board folds up and pieces fit into felt on the inside. This set looks amazing. I even found myself smelling the wood.
