EGYPT CHESS

For thousands of years Egypt’s mysteries have intrigued people. With an Egyptian chess set, untomb the mysteries of this game.
Over the years, the world of ancient Egypt has captured the imaginations of history buffs, archeology lovers, and fans of ancient mythology. The pyramids have stood for ages, creating questions about how they were built, what purpose they served, and who is buried within them. With its rich culture, exciting way of storytelling through hieroglyphics and monuments, fantastical gods and figures, and epic battles for power, this empire also makes a great subject for themed chess sets.
The Egypt chess pieces are made from stone, marble powder glued together with resin. The folding chess board is inlaid with mahogany and sycamore wood. It has an insert tray for the chess pieces storage inside. The Egyptian style pieces are hand painted and a great decorative set.
As the title suggests, all pieces have an ancient Egyptian design theme: A common Egyptian for the pawns, chariots for the knights and the pharaoh with his wife as the head of state. Anubis, the god who watches over the dead, stands next to the black pharaoh pair. And who could fit better on a chess board than Horus, the god of war? He supports the white chess force.
All pieces have a felted bottom, thus ensuring the beautiful board which comes with this set won’t be scratched by the hard pieces. The king stands at an impressive height of 13 cm and weighs 81 g for the black one and 90 g for white. The board measures 65 x 65 cm (or 65 x 32.5 cm when folded) and is inlaid with mahogany and sycamore wood. It also has an insert to store all the pieces individually and securely away, thus avoiding the pieces rubbing and scratching against each other. A notation all around the board helps with quick identification of the field coordinate, readable both for black and white. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play.
The Egyptian Chess Set is not only fun to play with but also represents an excellent choice for the collector or someone who wants to add a piece of decorative art in their living areas – a great eye catcher even for non-chess players. And its inlay for the pieces and the fold able board mean that it can easily be stored away if you wish so but it needs to be said that it would be a shame to hide such a wonderful piece of chess art away.
Please note that as these pieces are hand painted, there may be some inconsistencies in the level of detail and colour and therefore your pieces may be very slightly different from the images shown. Any inconsistencies however are minimal.

Andrew Davis –
I bought this as a gift for my son who has several chess sets, but no themed sets. We were both very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this set. The board lifts up to reveal storage area for the pieces though I usually keep the board set up and on display, as it looks so nice–Visitors have already made many positive comments.
I don’t think one would be disappointed with this set at all.
Richard Bedard –
Gave as gift. Very decorative. We leave it out on table cuz its that nice.
Price seemed a bit expensive until you see/hold it and realize its actually decent size.
Quality costs. This isn’t a knockoff, flimsy, disposable product.
Joe F –
This set might be a little bit too delicate for children, but for an adult, it is a beautiful set. I am so very happy with it thus far. The pieces go underneath the board for storage. This is going on my coffee table.
