The Ambassador chess set is a very traditional chess set, a perfect combination of light weighted pieces which are made of hornbeam and sycamore wood. Its large playing field is the perfect set piece for exciting chess matches.
The pieces and the chess case are hand-crafted and they have many ornaments burned on the dark squares of the board. The board is made from beech and birch wood that gives it a classic, handmade feel that many chess enthusiasts will appreciate; number and letter algebraic coordinates adorn the borders; when folded, the board is held securely shut with 2 brass clasps.
The Ambassador chess set is a high-quality set of wood (beech), decorated with a technique called pyrography (burning on wood). Each chessboard grid is hand-painted in natural colors and burned on wood. In the middle of the half-folded board there is a liner covered with a green velour coating to store the pieces. The chessboard is covered with burned ornaments on all sides. Carved figures like the chess board have burned ornaments and are made of solid wood (beech). All figures has elegant slim shape and are glued on the bottom with a green felt. Carved figures are beige and dark brown and are made of solid wood (beech).

Alles was zeer goed verpakt en kwam in prima staat aan. Voor de prijs is dit spel zeker een aanrader. De mooi versierde stukken zijn lekker groot en liggen goed in de hand. Als het spel opgesteld staat is het echt een blikvanger! Ik ben zeer tevreden, bedankt!

This is a very large set with a beautifully handmade chess board and large, ornate chess pieces. It does not come with extra Queens, and although the pieces are not weighted they’re made of wood and are large enough to have a pleasant enough weight to them already. To be honest, the price was so reasonable for this set that I really just bought it for the chess board itself. I plan on buying a separate set of pieces that are tournament size and weight with extra Queens. Either way, this is a beautiful set for travel or to play outside with friends. Terrific price! Well made! Nuff said!

This is a very exquisite chess set. The pieces fit well inside the board and do not move around inside while transporting. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments while carrying the board. I was pleasantly surprised considering it was less expensive than some of the other smaller sets. Pieces are beautifully made, the board is sturdy, and the entire set travels well.

The chess and draft pieces have a beautiful varnish woody smell to them, certainly not overpowering, they have a solid feel and are a decent weight. Each piece has a soft velvety cloth underneath so they won’t scuff the board and make no sound when placing them down. Overall: very pleased.

This is a bigger chess set than you probably think it is. Get a measuring tape and look at the dimensions. You’ll thank me later. Me and my son actually love this set. The pieces aren’t super heavy but they were heavy enough to withstand a windy day. We’ll end up getting a smaller set eventually. We’re happy with this one as it makes guests want to play because of the size.

My 9 year old son is really into chess.After looking at other sets and finding people expressing how what they ordered was smaller than expected, I went with this one, and found the opposite true: larger than expected–the board specifically; you’ll need a large open space to set this on. I wanted a chess set that would look nice sitting on our coffee table, and that would be enjoyable to use, but I’m not up paying for a high-end chess set at this time. At 70 Euro this chess set is perfect for us.
The weight has been fine for us. I think it’s important to have realistic expectations – if you are looking for a truly high end chess set then you will need to pay more for it. But if you are just looking for a set that is enjoyable to use and also attractive, this is a good choice.

This chess set is exactly what I was looking for as I would like to begin a long distance chess relationship with my 9 year old grandson.
I am sending him the set since it is such a great beginner set and hopefully he will not only like having his own chess set, he will also fall in love with the game of chess!
Since my grandson is obviously just learning the game, I wanted a set that was easy to use, not plastic or cheap looking! I am not a fan of online shopping so I am ALWAYS a little apprehensive when ordering something from a picture but I was so pleased when I opened the box and it was exactly what I hoped it would be!
I even love the outside box it comes in–so classy!!
As a side note, I would also like to mention that the customer service is exceptional! I received an e-mail from an actual person–not a robot!–to make sure I was satisfied with their product and they even included a chess manual to download!

J’ai commandé cet échiquier pour Noël. Il est vraiment de très bonne qualité. Le bois est très beau, les finitions sont soignées. La personnalisation est très bien faite.
