The Bizant chess set is an elegant set from our decorative chess set range. This set has been distinguished by the chess pieces. These slightly weighted in crusted pieces have unique designs and are carved from lovely red cherry tree wood.
Chessboard is hand-decorated with a technique called INTARSIA – which is an old form of wood inlaying, the start of that technique dates before the seventh century. Thanks to this method, chess has a unique appearance and smooth board surface.
The folding chess board has been inlaid with mahogany and sycamore wood. The chess board folds to store the pieces. The interior of the storage compartment is lined with green felt and each piece has its own place for secure travel. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play. One of our favorites of the decorative category.
The simplest and most widely used form of chess notation is the algebraic notation. The edges of the chessboard is marked with letters and numbers.
Chess notation is an easy way to record your games so that you can play them back to study tactics, understand mistakes or impress your friends. Give the notation a try in your next game – you will see that there is nothing more pleasant than the eye-catching exclamation mark behind the move that wins the game.
Much research has already been done into the benefits of chess for (the brain of) children. This showed, among other things, that children playing chess perform better at school when it comes to skills such as logical thinking, problem-solving, math skills, spatial awareness, and concentration.

I bought this for playing chess at the office and was very surprised by the quality. It is handmade and not every piece is going to be identical to a machine stamping out pieces. I really like that aspect. Pieces and board are wood and are of very nice size. I do not enjoy playing with a small board. Pieces have felt underneath. Two coworkers bought the same set after seeing this one.

I discovered that this company makes this set in several sizes. I liked this one because it’s not to big to take traveling but a very nice size for at home. Anniversary gift for picky husband, he was VERY pleased with the appearance. I like that the pieces store individually in the bottom. They are not weighted, but are still nice. Felt on the bottom.

Beautiful set. The latches are a bit on the cheap side. My son has to be gentle as one is already questionable. All in all my son loves it. Communication with the seller was quick and professional!
