This chess set is the largest from our Royal range. The chess pieces of a King’s style are unique, and they are made from hornbeam and sycamore wood. The folding chessboard has an insert tray for the chess pieces inside.
Beech and birch wood boards are embellished through a traditional technique of burning patterns and designs in the wood.
Number and letter algebraic coordinates adorn the borders. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play.
The simplest and most widely used form of chess notation is the algebraic notation. The edges of the chessboard are marked with letters and numbers.
Chess notation is an easy way to record your games so that you can play them back to study tactics, understand mistakes, or impress your friends. Give the notation a try in your next game – you will see that there is nothing more pleasant than the eye-catching exclamation mark behind the move that wins the game.
Much research has already been done into the benefits of chess for the brains of children. This showed, among other things, that children playing chess perform better at school when it comes to skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, math skills, spatial awareness, and concentration.

Great wooden chess set for the price. The craftsmanship isn’t the top of the line and the price reflects that, but I still receive many compliments on how nice it looks and expensive it must be. The pieces are a bit lighter than you’d expect. However, It folds up, stores, and transports easily. Having the grid marked on the board allow you easily learn openings and recreate games for a more in-depth review for a starter just learning the game and movement notation. The set still comes out looking very nice and is well worth the low price to step up from the cheap plastic and card stock sets.

die Schachfiguren sehen echt edel aus. ich habe dieses Schachspiel verschenkt und es ist sehr gut angekommen.

The set is an inexpensive chess set,that fits the bill very well for a starter set for my daughter who wants to learn to play. The pieces are attractively carven, and the wooden surface of the board looks inexpensive, but nice. There is a small imperfection/dent in one of the squares, but I can overlook that.

Es war ein Geschenk für meinen Sohn, der unbedingt ein analoges Schachspiel haben wollte. Aussehen und Verarbeitung sind absolut in Ordnung. Als Einsteigerset wirklich zu empfehlen.

Ich werde das Schachspiel meinem 11-jährigem Bruder zu Weihnachten schenken und er wird total begeistert sein. Die Figuren sehen durch die Schnitzereien und andersfarbigen Verzierungen edel aus – und das für diesen Preis. Bisher kann ich das nur empfehlen und ein Super Preis – Leistungsverhältnis bestätigen.
